About Wellsville Terminals

Wellsville Terminals Company is a family-owned business with over 50 years of reliable and efficient service to our customers.

We are located in the Northern Ohio River Basin within the Mid-Ohio Valley Statistical Port Area, the largest inland port in the United States. It plays a crucial role in connecting Ohio-based businesses with raw materials needed to produce their products.

Investing in the Future

Ohio is further investing in technology to enhance its logistics advantage by funding the “Logistics Lane” project along Route 7, the north-south truck corridor that runs along the Ohio River to Lake Erie.

Expected to start construction in 2027, the project aims to enhance maritime operations by expanding the Central Ohio River Information System (CORIS) with an Automatic Identification System (AIS) receiver C network, providing real-time information on boat movements on the Ohio River. This will aid in scheduled deliveries and improve overall river traffic management.

Why Wellsville

Wellsville Terminals Company is situated at the border of Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. Success in industrial manufacturing depends on two key factors: reliable energy and high customer demand. Our location offers both, providing advantages in cost, emissions, and speed to market.

Roughly 170 million people live within 1,000 km—50% of the U.S. market. Rail, inland waterways, and interstates make us a natural logistics hub.

Energy is local rather than distant, so companies avoid fuel logistics that add cost and risk. We sit atop prolific natural gas reserves, which provide a dependable supply and some of the lowest industrial prices in the developed world.

Ohio’s zero inventory and low tangible personal property taxes, slashes your overhead.

Wellsville Terminals Company offers a lower-cost solution to optimize your supply chain.

The Past

The Muse family has been active in the region since the 1800s. Family history tells of members loading rafts of coal to float downriver for sale. From the proceeds, the family members would buy horses and ride through Indian territory back to the Pittsburgh area.

The Present

The modern Wellsville Terminals Company, a full-service intermodal terminal, has been operating since 1977, handling commodities like steel, coal, and other goods between barge, rail, and truck.
